Daily Devotional: Is there any justice in this world?

 Today, let us delve into the heart of a question that troubles many of us: "Why do evil people seem to prosper? Is there justice in this world?" But fear not, for the Word of God, in His timeless wisdom and unchanging truth, provides us the answers.

Our key verse for today's devotional comes from Psalm 37:7-9 (NIV):

"Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land."

Diving into these verses, we see first the command to "Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him." It's a divine reminder that our human timing often falls short in comparison to God's perfect timing. It's easy to become impatient, especially when we witness folks seemingly thriving while up to no good. 😓 But God entreats us to trust in Him, to wait for His justice to unfold.

The following verses further dissuade us from anger and fretting, for these reactions lead only to evil. Instead, we should hope in the Lord, assured that the wicked will be cut off, while the righteous will inherit the land. This is a truth that we can hold onto, a promise from a trustworthy and just God.

In our own lives, we can apply this by focusing not on the seeming prosperity of the wicked, but on our own relationship with God. Our focus should be on walking the path of righteousness and trusting in His divine timing and perfect justice.

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your wisdom and unchanging truth. Help us to be still before You, trusting in Your perfect timing and justice, even when we do not understand the world around us. Teach us to turn from anger and to place our hope in You alone.
